Yoga Therapist, Founder

Yoga is so rich in tradition and science that I’ve spent over a decade practicing, studying, and sharing its philosophies. With a one-way ticket, I journeyed 2 years internationally through several countries including many parts of India, living and learning in ashrams and training centers. It also brought me to Thailand, Spain, and Singapore to further study and teach.

Because of my diverse training and integrative approach, sessions with me may incorporate conditioning exercises, assisted stretching, myofascial release through bodywork and/or therapy balls, and breathing and guided meditation to manage stress. I’ve been fortunate enough to teach in a variety of settings including private lessons, group classes, rehabilitation centers, doctor’s offices, corporate wellness seminars, university classrooms, and community centers and organizations.

I believe in the therapeutic benefits of yoga so much that re:YOGA Therapy + Wellness was founded. My goal is simply to never stop exploring the therapeutic effects of yoga and share what I’ve discovered along the way.

Amy Bishop

Yoga Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer

I am a multiple certified yoga teacher, personal trainer and former professional dancer with an international career. Around the time my performing career was ending, I was dealing with a lot of back pain and a friend of mine suggested I try a yoga class. I found that yoga helped me manage my pain while realigning my imbalances and strengthening my body. I also discovered more than just physical benefits. The work on my mat was evident in my life off the mat.

I completed the 500-hour teacher training with the Nosara Yoga Institute and have been registered with the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500 since 2005. I’ve co-led and assisted in several Yoga Teacher Trainings in NYC and Costa Rica. I hold Personal Training and Group Exercise certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Council on Exercise and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Additionally, I am certified in both pre-natal yoga and personal training and hold specialist certifications in flexibility, postural alignment, and Pranassage, a blend of yoga, assisted stretching and massage. I am also certified to teach BarWorks and SculptWorks through YogaWorks.

My classes are experiential, creative, challenging and playful, and I encourage students to tune into their present experience in every style class. Whether personal training or teaching yoga, my intention is to listen to my client and to work together to create what is needed for that particular session.

Gabrielle Lewis

Yoga + Meditation Instructor

A native of England, I gained my Bachelor of Science with honors in Applied Psychology from the University of Durham, an Ivy League school in England, where I explored different disorders in depth such as anxiety, depression, addiction, child development, PTSD, to name a few.

After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles, where I applied the study of people to a career in the entertainment industry, managing the careers of A-list actors. It was at this time that through Kundalini yoga, my soul’s purpose was ignited; to serve others in finding their inner peace, compassion, and tolerance in order to create outer peace, compassion, and tolerance. I decided to leave my career in entertainment behind to instead embark on an extensive yoga training program.

I studied under world renowned yoga teachers such as Guru Singh, Krishna Kaur, GuruMeher Singh, Kia Miller, Nirvair Singh, and Guruprem Khalsa, and underwent further training in pre-natal and post-natal yoga, as well as certified in level 2 training of mind and meditation, and vitality and stress.

Having experienced first hand the stresses of the corporate world, I now specialize in stress management, offering workplaces ways for employees to deal with stress and increase productivity. I also work with a special forces unit, who serves all over the world, by providing them with tools to help them be more effective, as well as coping strategies for PTSD.

As well as teaching in the workplace and working with individuals in a private setting, my love of sharing the teachings with all ages has led me to teach at schools to children as young as two, rehab facilities to teenagers who are in recovery from drug addiction, Mount Saint Mary’s University to young adults – teaching two accredited classes, and Brookdale Assistant Living Home to seniors. Since 2014, I have also been teaching at Yoga West – the first Kundalini Yoga studio in the West, and leading a teacher training tea to serve as a mentor to students.

Sound Therapist + Energy Worker

Grace Oh

Sound Therapist + Energy Healer

This chapter of my journey into sound therapy started in 2010, with one crystal singing bowl and the intent for personal healing.

My studies started with the dedicated teachers and steadfast yogi’s of Los Angeles, CA since 1999. As I explored the classics to the California fusions of Asana, Kriya, and Kundalini Yoga’s, the time spent practicing Karma Yoga and receiving decades of various healing modalities from gifted lightworkers, created a foundation and essence of home within myself to access the gifts of Sound Therapy. The light of Reiki and balance of Polarity are integrated in the practice as well.

Massage Therapist, Sound Therapist

My healing journey began around the age of 12 when I was taught shiatsu massage techniques by Hajime O’hara, a friend of my family from Japan who moved into our house to learn her father’s business. I was trained as a classical pianist and me strong fingers made me the resident massage therapist in my family as I not only could work out tough muscle knots, I knew right where to find them through intuition and was known throughout my formative years as someone who could get rid of headaches through acupressure/shiatsu techniques.

After spending many years in the classical music industry while continuing to work as a performing arts consultant, I decided it was time to give back and now work as an Integrative CranioSacral Therapy Practitioner, Sound Healer and Certified Massage Therapist. I studied CranioSacral Therapy and Polarity Therapy through the Life Energy Institute with further studies at the Milne Institute in CranioSacral work. I also studied at I.P.S.B, the Institute for Psycho-Structural Balancing in Culver City, CA receiving training in Circulatory/Deep Tissue Massage, Acupressure, Pregnancy and Oncology Massage and hold a certificate in Sound Healing and Therapy from the Globe Institute in San Francisco, CA.

I love working with people to help them connect with the deepest parts of who they are and hold space for their healing. My intention with my practice is to offer a wide variety of modalities and tailor each session to what works best for the individual present at that moment, enabling each person to access their own abilities to heal and relax.

I have spent the past 15 years practicing and studying yoga both on and off the mat. My in-depth knowledge and understanding of the traditions of yoga are reflected in my gentle yet challenging approach to teaching and helping people to experience a deeper awareness of wellness, peace and happiness.

I am an advanced certified yoga instructor, RYT500, and also successfully owned Yoga for You in Edmonds, WA, an individual & small group private yoga instruction business of 11 years. I created the business after recognizing students’ needs of understanding and embodying yoga uniquely and individually. I organize and conduct biannual international yoga retreats around the world and am also an Ayurvedic specialist and advanced meditation guide.

My extensive training of over 13 years of yoga teaching experience is offered in each and every class, workshop, and retreat. My style of teaching offers a fusion of Vinyasa, Iyengar, Power, Hatha, Yin, and Restorative yoga traditions. Classes are infused with my vast background as a leader and passion for life and yoga. I always try to lead classes from a place of support, compassion, and encouragement to dig deep into internal resources and find what is available in the moment. It is my belief that being fully present and finding a “steady and comfortable seat” in practice and in life is the key to health, happiness, and contentment.

Yoga has been an incredible source of awakening for me. I had no idea that my body was designed to feel this good. I have found a sense of freedom, humility, spirituality, and inner power from this practice, and it is such a joy for me to share this ancient intelligence with you. I love helping people to feel good in their bodies. In my classes, I integrate everything I’ve learned, from over 10 years of study an practice, to create a very connected and nourishing practice, that is designed specifically for you.

My studies include: Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, Yoga Therapy, Tantra, Sound Healing, Breathwork, Shamanic Healing, Meditation, and Aromatherapy. I hold a 200 hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Certification from Green Path Yoga in San Francisco, under the guidance of Clayton Horton, and a 200hr Certification from Chad Hamrin’s In Depth Iyengar & Yoga Therapy Training in Santa Monica.

I’ve taught for babies, kids, teens, college students, adults, masses of people at Lululemon, software engineers in between their computers, and even my grandma! I wholeheartedly believe that Yoga is for everyone, and I love sharing the gift of this practice.

I am a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and E-RYT 500. I have consistently been practicing, studying and teaching yoga since 2006. I founded the Little Yoga Studio in San Diego, CA in 2008.  My studio offered group classes that appealed to clients who were already interested in yoga as a self-care practice.  However, I found that more and more people were seeking one-on-one sessions to heal from injuries, to learn stress management techniques, to manage back pain or simply because they wanted a more personal experience.  This lead me to transition from owning a studio to going back to school and learn more about how the body works.  I enrolled in pre-nursing college courses that gave me a deeper understanding of the biology, anatomy, physiology and chemistry of the body. For 5 years, I worked at a chronic pain clinic where I got the opportunity to work as a yoga therapist with a wide variety of patients and conditions such as back pain, carpal tunnel, spinal fusions, paraplegia, knee, shoulder and neck injuries, cancer, vertigo, etc.

Most recently I completed a Yoga for Mental Health clinical program at Venice Family Clinic through Loyola Marymount University.  My approach to yoga therapy is that there is no “one size fits all”, all aspects of an individual must be taken into account when designing a personal yoga plan.

Massage and energy work is a powerful combination that allows healing on multiple levels. I work with bodies of all kinds, releasing tension, opening minds. It’s amazing how much is accomplished through relaxation. Every session is different – integrating Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage, myofascial release, trigger points, active/passive stretching, Craniosacral therapy, Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu (acupressure), reflexology, and passive joint mobilization techniques. I also practice pregnancy massage, hot stone massage, body wraps and scrubs. I appreciate working with clients regularly and witnessing their progress through the healing process. I might give you homework, should you choose to accept it…

I grew up with massage in the family, not as a profession, but simply as something a family does together. I began exploring energy work in 1999. In 2010 I graduated from the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing, studying holistic massage therapy. It is here where I received my strong grounding in anatomy and body-mind awareness. I regularly practice yoga, tai chi, and qigong.

“Unnecessary tension constrict movement, sensation, communication; within and without. Vital energy. We forget our potential, who and what we can be; in the world and beyond. Who and what we are. Relaxed. We remember freedom, in motion, in thought. In stillness without words. Free being. Flowing through form. Inspired, we return; renewed.”

Yoga and meditation have provided a way for me to deepen my self-awareness and become present in life.  In teaching yoga, I am able to share my knowledge and belief in the powers of yoga with others.  I have been practicing many different yoga styles since 1995 and guiding students through Meditation, Trauma Informed, Restorative and Vinyasa Flow Yoga since 2011.   Using the tools of meditation, I lead dynamic Mindfulness Workshops which guide each participant to make authentic choices for their unique life.  I have participated in Yoga Teacher Trainings in 2011 and 2013, in addition to numerous workshops on yoga, meditation and mindfulness.

In each class, students are guided through flow movement using one of 12 specific sequences focused on healing for detox/metabolism, depression, self-acceptance, back strengthening and guided meditations with an instruction on breath work and asanas.  These classes are woven with themes such as Empowerment, Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Personal Values to name a few.  These themes become new mantras and tools for living life.  My classes and workshops are a restorative journey from within so each yogi leaves feeling refreshed and committed to enter the world.
