Pain, Injuries, or Medical Conditions

If you have pain, injuries, or symptoms from disease, allow us to complement your treatment plan with Yoga Therapy. Yoga postures, breathing, and meditation exercises are integrated with concepts from modern therapeutic modalities (such as physical therapy, chiropractic, psychology, and/or bodywork) as appropriate to work synergistically. (Note: Yoga Therapy differs from regular yoga in that it requires advanced training and experience.)

Beginners to Yoga

We LOVE newbies! If you’re brand new to yoga, or to physical fitness for that matter, then rest assured that our approach enables you to feel completely at ease despite any doubts or reservations you may have. In fact, many of our clients new to yoga are surprised to find how great it feels to complete a private session.

Athletes / Active Lifestyle

If you’re highly active, are you participating in enough complementary practices such as mindful stretching? Athletes are notorious for pushing their bodies beyond their limits yet even integrating breathing and mindfulness practices can greatly reduce injuries, increase focus, and enhance endurance so you can continue this lifestyle for years to come.

Seniors

Seniors have lots to gain from yoga, particularly mobility, stability, and proper posture. Most importantly, practicing balance and coordination is pivotal as the risk of injuries from falls can dramatically increase as we age. Furthermore, breathing and meditation practices may ease the fear of aging and allows us to age gracefully. It’s never too late to begin a yoga practice!

Working Professionals

If you’re career-oriented with a constant shortage of time, private yoga lessons cater to your schedule and body’s needs. Whether you spend most of your days at a desk, on your feet, or commuting through traffic, we factor in your specific daily demands and functions to provide corrective practices to bring your system back to balance.

Expectant Mothers

It is a wonderful time to consider yoga if you are expecting a newborn! Yoga can prepare your body to overcome the added challenges it will inevitably encounter – including physical and hormonal shifts. We provide extra care and guidance to safely condition the body to carry the extra weight, meanwhile encouraging self-care and self-awareness while your body transitions for a smoother term.

Children and Young Adults

Just as it’s never too late to start yoga, it’s never too early! Building a positive mind-body connection at an early age has great benefits that can lead into adulthood. Anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders are on the rise and having positive coping mechanisms empowers our youths. Plus, those who start a yoga practice early on tends to foster more meaningful relationships with family, friends, and other members of their community.

What is Your Purpose for Practicing Yoga?

For Pain Management + Medical Conditions

  • Relieve Chronic Pain (Back, Neck, Joints)

Many Americans live with chronic pain. In fact, approximately 80% will experience back and/or neck pain at some point in their life. Yoga is commonly touted to aid in pain relief, but many students and teachers don’t realize that some postures may actually exacerbate the pain. Advanced training and experience provides for safer and more effective practice.

  • Prevent Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)

Repetitive Strain Injuries are hairline injuries in tissues and nerves due to repetitive overuse and typically go unnoticed. Consider activities such as running, biking, golfing, lifting, or even frequent texting. We consider your lifestyle and incorporate complementary exercises and mindfulness practices to prevent such injuries.

  • Manage Anxiety, Depression, and Stress

Experiencing occasional stress is completely normal and can even add value to your life. However, if it interferes with your daily life and relationships, we have specific tools to help manage anxiety and depression. In fact, our clients often report relying less on chemical dependencies due to their yoga therapy practice.

  • Reduce Insomnia and Fatigue

Did you know that lack of deep rest can be the cause of many of your health symptoms including chronic pain, gastrointestinal disturbances, or hormonal imbalances just to name a few? We offer techniques to access your body’s Parasympathetic Nervous System, the “rest-and-digest” function of your nervous system, to help your body rebalance its systems.

  • Speed Recovery Time from Treatments

If you have undergone invasive treatments such as surgery, chemo/radiation, or high dose medications, we can help your body cope with the challenges and traumas. While most doctors advise patients NOT to practice yoga, yoga therapy (if very carefully administered) can speed the recovery process. We are happy to cooperate with your doctor to discuss your needs.

For Mind - Body Fitness

  • Increase Tone + Stability

In addition to strengthening and toning, we help you reestablish stability in your joints – particularly in the hips, shoulder, and spine. We identifying muscle groups that are weak or inactive which commonly leads to misalignment overtime. Our yoga training helps you look great, feel great, AND increase function!

  • Increase Flexibility + Mobility

Undoubtedly, a great stretch can release tension and stress! While many yoga teachers focus primarily on flexibility, we emphasize mobility. This is important to distinguish as hypermobility (too much flexibility) may lead to pain over time. Learn how to establish the ideal balance of strength and flexibility.

  • Increase Brain Function

Studies now show that yoga practices such as mindfulness and meditation can actually increase brain matter and function! Reverse or slow the aging process by improving memory, focus, concentration, and understanding. Learn how you can even incorporate simple mindfulness practices to your daily activities.

  • Increase Energy

Adrenal fatigue is prevalent in modern lifestyle. Yoga breathing techniques and postures oxygenates your muscles and organs to increase energy. Imagine improvement in your work performance, increasing participation in hobbies and activities, and relying less on caffeine and sugars to get you through the day.

  • Increase Self - Confidence

Yoga is intended to take you out of your comfort zone with challenging and awkward postures. However, when the practice becomes too awkward or even painful, it leads to discouragement. We carefully choose exercises to systematically challenge you while building your inner strength and confidence.
